Director Mike Tie, supporting actor Kyaw Win Htut, and comedian Ohn Dai have been charged under the Law on the Protection of Multiparty Democratic General Elections from Obstruction, Disruption and Destruction.

The government is working to successfully hold the multiparty democratic general election on December 28, 2025 in order to implement the multi-party democracy system. In order to prevent the election from being disrupted by various means, the Law on the Protection of Multiparty Democratic General Elections from Obstruction, Disruption and Destruction was enacted on July 29, 2025, and effective action is being taken against those who do not comply with the law.

In this regard, on October 27, 2025, director Mike Tie aka Than Htun Zaw, supporting actor Kyaw Win Htut aka Kyaw Min Htut and comedian Ohn Dai aka Zaw Myint, who wrote false criticisms on social media about the election awareness story “Khit Thamine Ko Done Sai Mae Thu Myar” and the artists who starred in the story, inciting the public to misunderstand the election, were arrested from their respective homes.

Investigations into the arrests revealed that they did not support the military in carrying out its duties in accordance with the 2008 Constitution and had participated in riots and demonstrations. They also did not participate in the art sector, which they are skilled at, to ensure the success of the upcoming multiparty democratic general election. They also criticized and attacked the cooperation of other artists and wrote and distributed articles with the aim of reducing public confidence in the election.

Of the three arrested, director Mike Tie aka Than Htun Zaw was charged under Section 505(A) of the Penal Code in 2021 for writing critical articles on social media against the government and on October 28, 2022, he had been pardoned with the condition that “If he commits another crime again, he will continue to serve the remaining sentences in addition to this sentence.” Accordingly, action will be taken against him under the Law on Protection of Multiparty Democratic General Elections from Obstruction, Disruption and Destruction, and the previously pardoned sentence will be re-served in accordance with the law.

In addition, effective action will be taken against Kyaw Win Htut aka Kyaw Min Htut and Ohn Dai aka Zaw Myint, who incited the public to mislead the public about the multiparty democratic general election.

The government will continue to implement the general election with the participation of the public to successfully implement the multiparty democratic general election process and successfully move towards the multiparty democratic system that the entire public desires.
