There has been difficulty in tracing the contacts of the COVID-19 Positive patient in Pathein on 14 September. Those that had had contact with the patient have been place in Facility Quarantine.
So far, there have been 30 Positive cases in Ayeyarwady Region, and there are 19 patients taking treatment in Pathein District hospital. The Positive case found on 14 Sept. is a driver of a three-wheeler. He joined a social welfare group distributing facial masks, and sits in a coffee shop daily, and so it is difficult to trace all his contacts.
Dr Than Min Htut, chief medical officer of Pathein District hospital, said that with the addition of these two patients today we have 14 patients altogether. In the entire Ayeyarwady Region there are 30 patients.We are trying to trace all the contacts. Of the two patients today, one is the maid from the deputy director's house.It us easy to trace. The other is a driver of a three-wheeler. He has gone dustributing masks. He frequents coffee shops, and so it is a bit difficult to trace all his contacts. Till today we have placed in quarantine 10 persons who had gone round with him distributing masks. The doctor continued to say that previously the disease was at a distance, but now it us with us already. We have to be very careful. It seems that we were very vigilant when the disease was out if our reach, but now that it is here we have gone a bit slack.
The Ayeyarwady Region government issued a statement that from 15 Sept to 1st Oct all coffee shops and eateries should not serve customers in the shop but only to give take-away services only from 6 am to 8 pm. In some townships the township COVID committees have allowed shops to be opened from 6 am to 2 pm only.
Nothing had been issued at the Regional level regarding the market. So far restrictions have been issued only to eateries. City Developement Committee has not issued anything officially. Each township is going on under the orders of its own township committee. The same is happening at the townships.
In Myanmar, the number of people infected with COVID-19 virus keeps increasing by hundreds, so that as per announced on 15 Sept. morning there have been 3299 cases altogether.
