The Union Election Commission (UEC) is paying attention to Cyber Security in the central-level voter list management system, said U Thein Soe, chairman of the Union Election Commission (UEC).

This was said by the UEC chairman at the opening of the central-level voter list management system training course held on January 16 at Sin Pyu Shin Hall in No.3 Transit Center.

At the opening of the course, the UEC chairman said the central-level voter list management system will be able to handle and use by townships, district, regions and states level sub-commissions and the Union Election Commission Office according to their respective levels. When using the system, it can only be accessed from the Commission's separate network, and it is designed so that only the relevant level can be used, so the cyber security is also emphasized.

In addition, in the pre-election period to prepare for a free and fair election, they must carry out tasks such as setting election systems, allocation of constituencies, maintaining the ability of political parties to compete freely and fairly in accordance with the law and compiling voter lists. He said that voter registration work is very important in the pre-election process and the amount of work is also huge.

In the upcoming multi-party democratic general election, they are working hard to correct the voting lists. In order to correct the population statistics to be used in compiling the voter list, the members of the commission have visited various regions and states and carried out on-the-ground census matching operations. It will be easier and more accurate by using computer technology to compile the voter lists, he said.

In the system, the activities such as viewing the lists of the relevant parliamentary constituencies by within township, district, region and state and in the Union Territory nationwide by the commission headquarters, being able to view detailed voter lists by the type of voter, disability, ethnic group and tabular type up to the level of ward and village group polling stations and checking for duplicate voter list can be carried out by the relevant sub-commission levels, and by using the system, the election commission sub-level and the level of their command will get the benefits of being able to know the status of the completion of work according to their command and perform timely supervision and control, he said.
