CRYH to charge military with Penal Code

YANGON----- Committee Representing Yangon Hluttaw (CRYH) yesterday announced that the committee will be charging the military that arrested Yangon Region Chief Minister Phyo Min Thein and his counterparts and Parliament leaders with Penal Code

Yangon Region Chief Minister Phyo Min Thein and regional ministers such as Ye Min Oo, Nilar Kyaw, Naing Ngan Lin, Moe Moe Su Kyi and Naw Pan Thin Zar Myo as well as Parliament leaders Tin Maung Tun and Lin Naing Myint were illegally arrested by the military since the beginning of February 1st.

The Penal Code reported that whoever wrongfully confines any person for ten days or more shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to three years, and shall also be liable to fine.

In Yangon, the winning representatives of the National League for Democracy took their oaths through online on February 6th and they formed a Committee Representing Yangon Hluttaw-CRYH with 15 representatives on February 8th.

Military seized power on February 1st and they arrested union ministers and regional cabinet ministers. Later, they released the detained regional chief ministers who were placed under house arrest. However, they rearrested the regional chief ministers.
