Covid-19 cases reach over 2,000 with 14 deaths

The number of Covid-19 cases in Myanmar has reached over 2,000 after a record high of 120 more people were infected with the virus, the Ministry of Health and Sports reported at 8 am today.

In the second batch for September 9, 2,189 samples were tested – 1,538 by the National Health Laboratory (Yangon), 93 by the Department of Medical Research, 278 by the Public health Laboratory (Mandalay), 64 by PHL (Mawlamyine), 63 by Sittway People’s Hospital, 42 by Kyaukphyu People’s Hospital, 34 by Nay Pyi Taw People’s Hospital (1000-bed), 10 by Dawei People’s Hospital, 8 by Myaungmya People’s Hospital, 5 by Muse People’s Hospital, 4 by Hpa-an People’s Hospital, 4 by Bhamo People’s Hospital and one by Myawady People’s Hospital. Among them, 120 new cases were reported bringing the total number to 2,009.

A 55-year-old woman patient (Case-1590) suffering from diabetes and hypertension and a 45-year-old man patient (Case-1419) suffering from diabetes died on September 9 and 10 respectively. 

In the first batch for September 9, 82 cases were reported so the whole day saw 202 cases.

Myanmar has so far seen 2,009 Covid-19 cases and 14 deaths.
