A man returning from the United States has tested positive for Covid-19, bringing the total number of cases in Myanmar to 331, the Ministry of Health and Sports reported.
A total of 1,099 samples were tested on July 12—747 by the National Health Laboratory (Yangon), 209 by the Department of Medical Research and 143 by the Public Health Laboratory (Mandalay). Among them, one new Covid-19 case was confirmed.
The samples tested by NHL (Yangon) also included 452 members of lower and upper houses of parliament and 10 parliamentary staff members, and none of them tested positive. Those MPs are due to attend the 17th regular parliamentary sessions.
The 331st Covid-19 patient is a 40-year-old man just returning from the US. He was quarantined in Mingalardon Township, Yangon Region.
Till July 12, 261 patients were free from the virus and 248 had been discharged from hospital.
Myanmar has so far seen 331 Covid-19 cases and six deaths.
