Civil servants are to go to work for two weeks and work from home for another two weeks as Covid-19 symptoms are shown in 14 days after infection, the National Level Central Committee for Covid-19 Prevention, Control and Treatment has instructed.

The directive comes after some cases have been reported among government employees. It has also been confirmed by Zaw Htay, spokesperson to the President Office. 

The directive dated September 14 was addressed to union level organizations, union ministries, Nay Pyi Taw Council and region/state governments. 

With some infections in civil servants and symptoms shown within 14 days after infection, they are asked to go to their offices for 14 days and work from home for another 14 days as of September 15. This means half of staff from a department need to work while the other half stay at home. However, all staff from the core group and officers with a rank of director and above are instructed to go to work every day, the directive says. 

While working from home, civil servants are not to go outside except health affairs and shopping. 

The committee points out that those who fail to follow the directive will face effective action.
