YANGON-Chinese medics will be arriving in Myanmar aiming to collaborate with Myanmar’s medical team in prevention, control and laboratory test works, says Director-General Dr Thar Tun Kyaw from the Ministry of Health and Sports.

“The Chinese medic team comprising 14 members will arrive in Myanmar on April 4th. The team was formed with three phases such as Public Health, Treatment and laboratory test,” said Dr Thar Tun Kyaw.

The team will bring laboratory equipment which can test about 200 peoples per day.

Those Chinese medics will base in Yangon and they will be sharing their experiences collaborating with the experts from Myanmar National Laboratory and veteran physicians from the treatment.

“We expect to learn more in detail from those experts,” said Dr Thar Tun Kyaw, adding that experience sharing and training will be conducted.

Chinese ambassador to Myanmar Chen Hai said that the Chinese government and its partners would be donating medical supplies to Myanmar so also the Chinese embassy would call on the donation.  

The Xinhua News Agency reported that the Chinese embassy is now discussing sending the Chinese medical team with the Ministry of Health and Sports.

The Xinhua News Agency also reported that the Chinese government donated medical supplies including N95 masks and test kits to Myanmar.

Myanmar has reported 14 confirmed cases of COVID-19 as of Monday. But, one died this morning.
