Chinese Foreign Minister Mr Wang Yi reaffirmed China’s full support for Myanmar’s electoral process and its political development according to a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During his visit to Anning, China, for the 10th Mekong-Lancang Cooperation Foreign Ministers’ Meeting and related events, Union Minister for Foreign Affairs U Than Swe held separate meetings with Thai and Chinese foreign ministers on August 14.

In his discussion with Thai Foreign Minister Mr Maris Sangiampongsa, both sides shared updates on recent developments in their countries and explored ways to strengthen cooperation on border affairs.

Later, U Than Swe met Chinese Foreign Minister Mr Wang Yi, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee. The talks focused on bilateral relations and cooperation, with the Myanmar minister briefing his counterpart on preparations for the upcoming election. Mr Wang Yi reaffirmed China’s full support for Myanmar’s electoral process and its political development.
