Mr. Deng Xijun, Special Envoy for Asian Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, has expressed China’s backing for Myanmar’s peace efforts while firmly opposing any actions that could break up the nation’s unity, state-run media reported.

The Chinese special envoy made the comment during his courtesy call on Chairman of the State Administration Council Senior General Min Aung Hlaing in Nay Pyi Taw on the afternoon of October 15.

The Senior General expressed thanks to the Chinese delegation for attending Myanmar’s crucial peace anniversary. The special envoy said he was glad and honoured to witness that the 8th Anniversary of the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement (NCA) was successfully and grandly held.

Then, both sides cordially exchanged views and discussed the efforts being made by the government and the Tatmadaw (military) standing firmly on the NCA route for domestic peace and China’s assistance, China’s staunch support for Myanmar’s peace process, and non-acceptance of any acts that could break up the country, Myanmar’s focus on border stability and development with China, unacceptable situations based in Myanmar’s border areas that can affect the interests of the neighboring countries, some ethnic armed organizations working only on agreements and commitments without signing any legitimate treaty like the NCA and the government’s calls for ensuring eternal peace by taking the NCA route which is strongly legitimate,  the Tatmadaw taking a firm stand on the path of multi-party democracy, bilateral cooperation in eliminating online gambling and online fraud, measures to enhance the bilateral cooperation, and measures for the re-acceptance of those who left Rakhine State.

The meeting came after the Chinese special envoy attended the 8th Anniversary of the NCA held in Nay Pyi Taw on the morning of October 15.
