The chief medical officer of Myawaddy District, Kayin State, and a doctor on duty were found to be COVID-19 positive, according to sources.     

U Tayza Aung, Myawaddy District Administrative Officer, confirmed that the chief medical officer and a physician tested Positive when medical examination was conducted at the Myawaddy District Hospital on 18th of November.      

He further said that about three days back when the test was conducted with Test Kits there was no sign of any disease. The previous day the district medical officer complained of muscle pain, and when he was tested with the covid examining machine from the hospital he was found infected with coronavirus.     

When hospital medical staff and other contact persons  who have had contact with the district CMO were tested, except for the physician, who was closest to the CMO, proved to be Positive, while all the others were Negative.     

There has been no official confirmation from the National Health Laboratory regarding the COVID-19 infection of the  Myawaddy District Chief Medical Officer and a doctor.     

There has been contagion of coronavirus in Myawaddy, and according to the confirmation by the NHL there are 136 COVID-19 Positive confirmed patients, and of these one had died, 112 had recovered, and 23 still taking treatment, as disclosed by the Myawaddy District COVID-19 Control and Emergency Response Committee.
