A small passenger vehicle overturned after speeding on Hpa-an-Thaton Road in the upper Kawrin village of Hpa-an, Kayin State, at about 7:15 a.m. today, killing a passenger, according to a local social relief team.
The car carrying a driver and four passengers accelerated at the turning of Hsan Htoo Company in the upper Kawrin village and flipped into a roadside canal, said an official from the Social Relief Society.
"The passenger who died was a 52-year-old man from the village of Khmone in Letpadan town. He was found on the opposite side of the canal. It seems that he died after being drowned in the water entering the car as he could not get out. The rest of the people had got only cuts and bruises,” he added.
A local rescue team sent the body to the mortuary of Hpa-an People’s Hospital.
