Yangon—Basic education schools will reopen in coming July, said U Ko Lay Win, Director-General of Basic Education Department.

“The reopening of basic education schools is included in the statement issued by the central committee," he said.

The exam results for basic education level will be issued before the end of June, he added.

The Central Committee for Prevention, Control and Treatment of COVID-19 has issued a directive for the handover of basic education schools being used as the community-based facility quarantine centers to the Education Ministry by June 15 as the schools will reopen in July.

Apart from the people being quarantined at basic education schools, the new persons will be put in quarantine at the buildings owned by the ministries in relevant townships and at universities, colleges and degree colleges under the Higher Education Department.

A total of 6,012 basic education schools nationwide are being used as the community-based facility quarantine centers.
