The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a statement saying that arrangements were being made for a quick return of the eight young women of Myanmar who went live on Facebook asking for help as they got into trouble in Dubai, the United Arab Emirate.

A live video file was posted on the Facebook account named Khaing Lay on August 25 in which eight Myanmar women asked for help as they were in Dubai getting into trouble. Therefore, the Myanmar Embassy in Riyadh contacted the eight women in Dubai and conducted negotiations between them and their broker on August 27, the statement said.

Their passports were returned to the women and arrangements were made to ensure that they return to Myanmar as quickly as possible. Meanwhile, CID officials from the UAE have sent the women and the broker to their headquarters on August 27 for a temporary period for their safety and questioning.

For those who are found no guilty after the processes have been carried out in accord with the UAE law and immigration and police procedures, they will be released, according to the CID officials.

The Myanmar Embassy is cooperating with UAE officials and Myanmar social aid organizations in Dubai to make sure that the eight Myanmar women return home as quickly as possible, the statement added.
