Another unlicensed money changer arrested in Paung Township

Ma Htwe Htwe Soe, who was doing commercial banking business illegally, was arrested in Kadonese ward in Paung Township, Mon State, on September 16, according to local sources.

“Htwe Htwe Soe was arrested for engaging in the money changer business without a license after communicating with her elder sister from Thailand,” said a local from Paung Township.

Likewise, two women were arrested for doing commercial banking business without licenses in Thahton and Kyaikhto Townships, Mon State, on September 15 and the relevant police stations are now taking actions against them under Section 171 of Financial Institutions Law.

A person who is close to the police force said that the authorities investigated those who are doing commercial banking services without license from abroad money changers during these days and took actions against them under Section 171 of financial institutions law.

As there have been consecutive arrests on commercial banking business without license in Mon State, most illegally money changer services postponed yet, according to the labours who worked in Thailand.
