A security guard of the locomotive shard in Amarapura Township, Mandalay Region, was shot and killed on the morning of July 16, local sources said.

U Zar Ni Naing, a 42-year-old security guard of Amarapura Locomotive Shard, living at the staff quarters in Yankin Ward, was shot when he was going to Myitnge Market by motorbike. He was shot about four times by two unidentified men on a motorcycle riding in the opposite direction in front of a post-primary school.  

Authorities concerned are taking steps to arrest the shooters.

On July 9 also, army captain who had just arrived back at his home in Chanmyathazi Township, Mandalay, faced a gun attack.
