TAUNGGYI-51 IDPs had returned to their homes from Hsibaw Township, Shan northern Shan State yesterday as they felt safer for their region, leaving only one camp a camp in Hsibaw Township, according to the IDPs.

In Namtu Township, locals fled their homes on February 13 due to recent clashes with 68 people are sheltering at the Pobbayon monastery in Namtu. As there were clashes between ethnic armed forces, locals have to fee from their homes since first week of January 2019.

In the morning of March 30th, the farmers from Manli village, Namtu Township were on their way to work when a landmine exploded causing three deaths and four to be injured. Now, the injured farmers are being transferred to the Lashio People’s Hospital.

Likewise, eight locals from Kyeethee, Kyaukme and Hsibaw Townships in northern and southern Shan State were mined.

The villagers said that the landmines are still keeping in the villages. They would like to request the government to clear these landmines before rainy season.

According to the 2015 landmine Monitor Country Report, almost 4,000 civilians were registered as victims of landmines, ranking Myanmar 3rd highest for civilian landmine victimhood in the world.
