The Central Bank of Myanmar (CBM) has announced that all banks will be open on January 10 as an alternative working day for the New Year holidays.
The government has announced long holidays to facilitate travel for the public and civil servants and to allow them to take a long break. The nearest Saturday was set as the alternative working day for the holiday, so December 26 was closed because it falls between December 25 (Christmas Day), 27 (Saturday) and 28 (Sunday).
However, the CBM has set January 10 as the alternative working day for the holiday, and all government and private banks will be open on that day. Therefore, those who want to use banking services will be able to do so on that day, the CBM has announced.
