Yangon—Actions will be taken against anyone who enters Myanmar via illegal entry and exit gates or anyone who accept illegal returnees, in accordance with the existing laws, according to a statement by the Central Committee for Prevention, Control and Treatment of COVID-19 on 10 June.

The government has opened the official reception centers at international airports, jetties and border checkpoints for reacceptance of Myanmar citizens.

The central committee has urged Myanmar citizens to reenter the country via official border gates and receive medical checkups. But the entry of some people via illegal border gates may hamper the prevention, control and treatment of COVID-19 and lead to the spread of virus, the statement says.

There have been 249 confirmed patients and six deaths in Myanmar, according to the Ministry of Health and Sports.
