About 600 truckloads of fruits have entered Muse 105-mile trade zone, northern Shan State, daily before Chinese New Year, according to Muse fruit market.

Demands from China are high in Chinese New Year period and traders have a good price for their fruits.

“We have a good price on our fruits. The Chinese paid four or five Yuan per kilo for squash and two or three Yuan per kilo for watermelon. They bought watermelon by the truckload. We earned about 40,000 Yuan. Some traders waiting for a good price if their fruits can last,” said an official from Northeast Public Company Limited.

Watermelons from mid Myanmar, Ayeyawady and Yangon regions arrived in the trade zone mostly and more trucks loaded with squashes and watermelons will be arrived.

“Trucks loaded with squashes and watermelons entered in the market and we earned about Ks10 million for each truck loaded with watermelons. The traders who sold the watermelons early didn’t have a good price,” said Ye Ye Khaing from a fruit depot.

Transaction is stable except 22-wheeled trucks loaded with cargos overturned on Gote Twin Road, a section of Mandalay-Lashio-Muse Union Road.
