AA attacks two security units in Kyauktaw: army

About 90 Arakan Army (AA) forces attacked two Tatmadaw security units in Kyauktaw on the night of December 30 by taking cover of residential buildings and AA needs to avoid the kind of action which can harm locals, said Brig-Gen Zaw Min Tun, Secretary of Tatmadaw True News Information Team.

“Two security units providing security near Maha Kanhtooshin Pagoda and a basic high school in Kyauktaw are under attacked by the AA forces around 7 pm,” he said.

Moreover the AA forces also attacked an army column providing security for Ramaung Bridge in Minbya Township on the morning of December 30, he said.

“Lately the AA came to attack the army providing security in towns and bridges and they are hiding in the buildings or wards to attack the army. They once plotted an attack in Kyauktaw and it damaged religious buildings and injured some civilians. It will only harm locals and they need to avoid it,” said the Brig-Gen.

Two civilians are wounded during the attack in Kyauktaw and some private and government buildings are damaged, according to a report published on December 31 from a local media “Narinjara News”.

AA forces and the army clashed in Kyauktaw, Mrauk-U, Minbya, Ponnakyun, Buthidaung, Yathedaung and Arn in Rakhine State and over 90,000 locals are fleeing away from their homes.
