A 27-year old pregnant woman, who returned from Thailand on March 9, from Loikaw, Kayah State, is kept in quarantine as a COVID-19 suspect in Loikaw hospital due to her high body temperature, said Dr Tun Nay Win, head of medical services and public health department for the township.
Although her husband is in good health, doctors are monitoring his health.
“Her body temperature was over 100°F when we measured her using a thermometer at Shadaw border gate for three times. She is also sneezing and had a cough. Medical staffs are taken her to Shadaw hospital and the hospital urgently transferred her to Loikaw hospital. Her body temperature was about 99°F yesterday. We gave her medicines to take. We are arranging to send a nasal swab to the national health laboratory. We will know the result within days,” he said.
The driver, who drove them to the hospital, is underwatch in his home and he is in good health.
Two Chinese citizen arrived in Loikaw on March 7 are quarantined in the home rented by them and provided medical services, he said.
Medical staffs are checking the health of travellers in Loikaw airport daily and alerted Chinese citizens living in Loikaw to inform authorities if they found COVID-19 symptoms on them.
