A female ward administrator, who was handing out surgical masks and hand sanitizers in front of Aung Chan Thar market in Amarapura Township, Mandalay Region, was shot and killed by two unidentified individuals on a motorcycle this morning (July 14th). 

The two assailants fired about eight times on a group of 7 individuals who along with the ward administrator were distributing surgical masks and hand sanitizers to market-goers. 

Daw Thet Thet Cho, the ward administrator, was killed on the spot with head injuries. Two other members also sustained injuries in their legs and were sent to Mandalay General Hospital. 

On July 11th, in a similar incident, two government employees from the electricity office were also shot in Mandalay region: one did not survive the attack. 

Several electricity offices in Yangon were also bombed over the past week after the ruling military urges residents to pay their electric bills. 

Despite the deadly health crisis from the third wave of Covid-19, Myanmar continues to experience continued occurrences of violence and instability.
