The 87-year-old woman patient of Covid-19 (Case No.143) in the town of Muse was allowed to be discharged from hospital at 3 pm on May 9 as she had tested negative twice.

“The patient had no fever at all. Her X-ray results are also in very good condition. We came to a decision that she could be discharged because she tested negative twice. So, we allowed the old lady to be discharged. She must be in hotel quarantine for two week and in home quarantine for two weeks after her discharge. After those 14 days, she must come to us for follow-up checkups,” said Muse District People’s Hospital’s medical superintendent Dr Han Naing Soe.

She was the first to be infected in Muse, northern Shan State of Myanmar. She had a travel history returning from Dubai.

“The Case No.143 patient tested positive on April 25. She was allowed to be discharged after 15 days, the doctor added.

Swabs of 32 close and secondary contacts with her were sent to the National Health Laboratory in Yangon, but all were tested negative.

Physician Dr Tin Zar said it was good news for Muse hospital that the old lady was discharged after recovery.

Muse was able to cure about 10 Covid-19 patients with mild symptoms and four others with severe symptoms. There are about 60 people in home quarantine in Muse. Muse District People’s Hospital has four persons under investigation of Covid-19.

The patient of Case No.143 has no diseases except hypertension and diabetes. But she is reported to have a strong spirit.

The old lady went to Dubai via Bangkok together with her two daughters, daughter-in-law and granddaughter who is a flight attendant on March 9. She arrived back in Yangon on March 20.
