Seven family members of the Nyaung Shingon village administrator in Pulaw Township have been killed, local reports say.

Around midnight of February 11, a group of armed men arrived at the house of village administrator U Myint Aung in Kyauklonegyi village-tract, Pulaw Township, Myeik District, Taninthayi Region, and killed his family members.

“Only the village administrator escaped. All of his families were murdered. We heard they were killed by PDF (people’s defence force) members. The bodies would be cremated on February 13,” said a local villager.

The seven family members of the village administrator who were killed by the gunmen were his wife, daughter and grandchildren.

In Myeik District, Pulaw and Taninthayi are the townships where martial law has been imposed. This is the first time all family members of a village administrator have been killed in Pulaw.
