60 Magway health staff join in for Yangon Covid-19 treatment centers

A total of 60 health staff members from Magway Region have gone to Yangon Region to work for the Covid-19 centers and the patients in Magway Region are also improving their health, said Dr Khin Maung Than, director of the Region Public Health and Medical Services Department. 

A specialist, six assistant surgeons and three health assistants were sent to Yangon in the fourth batch on September 29 and 60 have been sent so far. 

Till September 30, Magway Region tested swabs of 14,577 people and reported 44 confirmed cases. There are still 23 patients in the hospital and their health is improving. In September alone, 16 Covid-19 patients were hospitalized and 10 discharged. 

“We sent 19 senior nurses for the first time, five doctors led by the director for the second time, 10 post-graduate students and 20 senior nurses for the third time and the fourth time now. We also sent some staff members to Rakhine State. But now we don’t need to. In our region, all the patients are doing good,” said Dr Khin Maung Than.

Magway Region saw the first case on April 13.
