An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.2 on the Richter scale struck with its epicenter about six miles southwest of Myittha town at a depth of 10 kilometers.
The quake occurred on May 17 at 10:24:48 PM, causing residents in Mandalay to flee their homes and seek safety on the streets.
"A fairly strong earthquake shook Mandalay. It lasted quite a long time. Among the tremors felt after the major quake on the 28th, this was the strongest and longest," a Mandalay resident wrote on social media.
The tremors were also noticeably felt in other regions, including Sagaing, Monywa, and Wundwin, according to posts by local residents on social media platforms.
