In Nawnghkio Township, where schools had been closed for nearly a year, 16 more schools reopened on August 9, bringing the total number of operational schools to 42, with more than 5,500 students now attending classes.
In Nawnghkio, northern Shan State, basic education schools that had been shut for almost a year resumed classes starting from July 25, providing lessons to students and continuing to accept new enrollments.
To ensure children can study according to their respective grades, 26 basic education schools were reopened earlier, and another 16 were added on August 9, making a total of 42 schools now open in the township. On the same day, 1,141 more students enrolled, raising the total student population to 5,551.
Additionally, to improve healthcare services for local ethnic residents, the Naungcho Township People’s Hospital was renovated and reopened on August 2, and it is now providing essential medical services to the community.
On August 9, the hospital treated 67 outpatients for malaria, influenza, and general illnesses, conducted blood type tests for 16 people, malaria tests for 17 people, and distributed 100 mosquito nets to outpatients. At the same time, 34 inpatients are currently receiving treatment at the hospital, with medical teams providing necessary healthcare services.
