A bus carrying factory workers overturned on the new highway at the Pinthong Industrial Estate 3 in Sriracha District, Chonburi Province, Thailand, at around 8:30 am on January 15, injuring 42 Myanmar workers, according to sources.
The accident damaged the front of the bus, which had a Bangkok license plate, and injured 42 Myanmar migrant workers, 26 men and 16 women. The Myanmar workers were working at the Pinthong Industrial Estate.
Rescue teams reportedly used hydraulic equipment to free a woman trapped in the bus, which took about five minutes.
The driver, Mr. Thiwat, 32, was driving at a speed of 30-40 kilometers per hour when he picked up the workers and took them to the factory. The driver tried to swerve to the left when he was approaching the Khao Tabak mountain pass due to the container trucks and obstacles in front, but he lost control and overturned.
The police chief and rescue team from Nongkham Police Station provided first aid to the injured and took them to a hospital in Si Racha district. The police officials are investigating the incident and will take legal action, according to reports from Thailand.
