A total of 850 plastic containers, each holding 30 liters of Glacial Acetic Acid—amounting to 25,500 liters—were seized in Thapyay Roe Village, Pyawbwe Township, Mandalay Region. The chemicals were stored without proper documentation, and five individuals involved in the illegal operation were arrested.
A joint team consisting of members of the Narcotics Control Police conducted a raid at Pyawbwe Township, at around 6:30 pm. on June 8. In Tha Pyay Roe Village, Soe Thet was arrested along with 850 plastic containers of Glacial Acetic Acid (30) liters, which were stored without permission.
According to the investigation, Zaw Lin Oo, who paid money to collect the chemicals, was arrested at his home on Swetaw Road, Wunna Deepa Ward, Pubbathiri Township at 4:30 pm on June 10. Kyaw Myint Oo (aka) Phoe Kyaw (aka) Phyo Kyaw, who was responsible for transporting the chemicals from Yangon to Pyaw Bwe, was arrested at his home in Dala at around 10:30 pm on June 12; while Aung Aung Oo (aka) Ko Khant, who illegally transported the chemicals, was arrested at around 6:00 am on June 14 at his home on 152nd Street, Tamwe Township; and Aung Hlaing Thein (aka) Nay Aung, who illegally sold the chemicals, was arrested at around 10:30 am on June 15, Phan Chet Set Road, Ywama West Ward , Insein Township.
It is understood that the chemicals were being illegally transported and traded with the intention of being used in the production of narcotics and psychotropic drugs, and further legal action will be taken against them.
