25 Chinese citizens from copper mining site quarantined for virus screening

Twenty-five people including three Chinese citizens who are at Sabal and Kyaesin Mountain Copper Mining project site in Sagaing Region, from Wuhan, are quarantined for medical screening, said Sagaing Region MP Dr. Thein Naing from Salingyi Township Constituency-1. 

Three Chinese citizens from Wuhan arrived here before the spread of the deadly coronavirus in China. Currently, there are 22 Chinese citizens who entered Myanmar with visa. This inspection came after the circulation of news about the arrivals of Chinese citizens at the project site, on facebook page. The region ministers and the MPs conducted checks there in cooperation with relevant departments, MP Dr. Thein Naing added.

Sagaing Region MP Daw Aung May Yee from Yinmarbin Township Constituency-2 said: “We worry as they arrived here after the spread of deadly conronavirus. Twenty-five people are quarantined.” 

Dr. Kyaw Thu Swe, head of Special Diseases Control Team of Sagaing Region Health Department said: “They show no symptoms of the virus. They were checked in accordance with the WHO’s instructions. We need to monitor those who returned from Wuhan, for 14 days. Those who returned from Wuhan have been here for more than 28 days.”
