MUSE-Police arrested 20 Chinese citizens for illegally entering Myanmar.
The suspects, who were accompanied by four Myanmar nationals, were arrested on July 30th in a private vehicle at Namtpaw tollgate, in Muse District, northern Shan State.
There have been 40 cases for illegal entry from Muse district, starting from January 1st to July 30th and totaling 250 illegal Chinese nationals have been charged.
“We are now carrying out border security tasks along the Ruli river in cooperation with the district level police force. We are going to investigate the arrest of illegal Chinese citizens,” said Police Lt-Col Aung Htain Lin from Muse District Police Force.
The locals said that there were many villages marking the boundary between Muse district and China along Ruli River. Chinese citizens can avoid the toll gates when they enter Myanmar illegally through those places.
