176.4 kg of raw opium worth over Ks150 seized in Tharzi township

According to the information released by the Central Committee for Drug Abuse Control-CCDAC Myanmar 176.4 kilograms of raw opium worth over 150 million kyats was seized from a 12-wheeled truck in Tharzi township, Mandalay Region.

At 5am on August 2, acting on a tipoff, members of the police squad from the Narcotics Eradication Force inspected a 12-wheeled truck driven by Pyei Phyoe Htun accompanied by Myo Kyaw Thu and Thant Zin Ko at the Kyweratson inspection gate in Tharzi township, Mandalay Region.

In doing so, 176.4 kilos of raw opium with a street value of over 150 million kyats was seized. It was learnt that the raw opium was being transported from Northern Shan State to Sagaing Region.

In the information released by the CCDAC MYANMAR, action is being taken against the perpetrators were being taken action on, and efforts were being made to apprehend those connected with the crime.
