MYAWADY- A bus accident along the Bangkok-Mae Sot road yesterday morning had killed 11 Myanmar migrant workers and injuring five others.

A bus carrying Myanmar migrant workers collided with a tree in Khlong Khlung district of Kamphaeng Phet province, subsequently catching fire and burning those trapped.

“11 Myanmar workers were burned to death. The dead bodies and the injured were sent to Kamphaeng Phet Hospital,” said Phe Choe from Mae Sot.

“The vehicles carrying Myanmar migrants and Thai nationals travel in those buses yearly in Kamphaeng Phet province leaving hundreds dead. This year, many migrants move into the Tak Province. Bu  28 Myanmar workers and a Thai national had died due to a bus going up in flames following an accident in Tak province. Myanmar migrant workers should ride the stated-owned double decker in accordance with other legal affairs security and secure insurance. We would like to urge the Myanmar workers to not to ride the mini vehicles which mainly does a haphazard job of ferrying to and from their worksites at the cost of sacrificing their lives ,” said Moe Gyo, Chairman of the Joint Action Committee from Burma Affairs- JACBA.

From the bus accident, nine Myanmar workers died on the spot and while remaining died at the hospital.
