A 65-year-old taxi driver died of suspected heatstroke on Monday morning after collapsing at the intersection of Sule Pagoda Road and Anawrahta Road in Kyauktada Township.

Local auxiliary fire services responded to emergency reports around 11:25 am, but the victim—identified as U Aung Htay from South Dagon Township—had already passed away when responders arrived minutes later. An official noted that the victim had underlying hypertension.

His body was transported to Yangon General Hospital after authorities notified his family. In response to the incident, emergency officials urged the public to stay hydrated, carry sun protection, and take extra precautions when outdoors during extreme heat.
