Four Bengal tiger cubs have been successfully born at Yadanabon Zoological Gardens at the foot of Mandalay Hill, according to the zoo’s management.

The cubs were born to a male tiger named Jackson and a female named Waing Chit. Two were born on the night of 31 August at 10:06pm and 10:53pm, while the other two arrived at 4:09am and 5am on 1 September.

The zoo said the births resulted from systematic animal conservation and breeding programmes based on knowledge and techniques gained through workshops and training with foreign experts, as well as SEAZA guidelines.

Bengal tigers are classified as an endangered species.
