President U Min Aung Hlaing has called for strict oversight to ensure that land allocated for agricultural and livestock activities is not used for other purposes.

The President made the remarks while inspecting livestock farming activities in Twantay Township, Yangon Region, on 29 August. Officials briefed him on the development of livestock zones, including the production of poultry, pigs, goats, cattle, fish and quails, as well as measures to provide water, electricity, roads and animal feed.

The President said the farming and livestock zones were being developed to help meet the daily demand for meat, fish, eggs and vegetables among Yangon Region’s more than seven million residents at affordable prices.

He stressed the need for accurate ground-level data when planning production and urged regional authorities to ensure sufficient supplies and reasonable prices. He also instructed officials to prevent land allocated for farming and livestock production from being diverted to other uses.

He further called for systematic livestock management, including adequate supplies of quality breeds, feed, clean water and healthcare, to increase productivity and ensure sustainable production.

Following the inspection, the President and officials toured livestock facilities and inspected conditions along the Yangon-Twantay road before visiting the Myanmar-Korea Friendship (Dala) Bridge, where he gave further instructions on river management and urban development along the Yangon River.
