A 132-kV high-voltage transmission tower near Paunglaungkan Village in Pakokku Township, Magway Region, was damaged in a bomb attack allegedly carried out by PDF members on the evening of July 19, authorities said.
The explosion targeted Tower No. 338 at around 7:30 p.m., cutting electricity transmission to Pakokku, Yesagyo, Myaing and Kamma townships. The incident also affected the stability of the 132-kV power grid across Magway Region, resulting in low voltage and intermittent power outages in several other towns and villages.
Following the attack, security personnel, officials from the township electricity engineering office and technical staff were deployed to the damaged site to carry out emergency repair work and restore the transmission line as quickly as possible.
Security forces have also stepped up operations to identify and arrest those responsible for the bombing, according to the report.
