President U Min Aung Hlaing visits Shanghai Lingang special area

President U Min Aung Hlaing, accompanied by a high-level Myanmar delegation, visited the Shanghai Lingang Special Area on June 18 during his goodwill visit to China, according to official reports.

The visit comes at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping. The Shanghai Lingang Special Area is one of China's key economic and industrial development zones aimed at further integrating the country's economy with the global market. The area is designed to promote a higher level of economic openness and create an internationally competitive business environment.

Earlier in the day, President U Min Aung Hlaing attended and inaugurated the Myanmar-China Investment and Trade Networking Summit (MCITP–2026) Shanghai, held in Shanghai.

The president is currently on a goodwill visit to China following an invitation extended by President Xi Jinping.
