Three siblings drowned in Kanyutkwin, Phyu Township, Bago Region, on the afternoon of June 15, according to local sources.
The incident occurred in Khintan Ward, where the children reportedly drowned in a water-filled excavation site near a cemetery.
“A pit dug for soil extraction had filled with water and become like a pond. It was about chest-deep for an adult. The children drowned there,” a local resident said.
The victims were identified as siblings: 12-year-old twins Ma Kyal Sin Aye and Maung Kyal Sin Aung, both fourth-grade students, and their younger sister, Ma Zun Pan Phyu, a seven-year-old second-grade student.
The funeral for the three siblings is scheduled to be held on June 17.
