At the invitation of President of the People’s Republic of China Mr Xi Jinping, President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar U Min Aung Hlaing  will pay a five-day state visit to China from June 15 to 19  according to a statement released by China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

A spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry said that President Min Aung Hlaing has accepted President Xi’s invitation and will undertake an official state visit to China during the five-day period.

The upcoming trip will mark U Min Aung Hlaing’s third visit to China since 2024.

His first visit took place in November 2024, when he attended the Greater Mekong Sub-region (GMS) Summit and met with Chinese Premier Li Qiang.

His second visit was made from August 30 to September 6, 2025, when he attended the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO Summit 2025 Plus) and participated in commemorative events in Beijing marking the 80th anniversary of the victory in World War II and the anti-fascist war.

During that visit, U Min Aung Hlaing held separate talks with President Xi Jinping and also met with several international leaders, including Russian President Vladimir Putin, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

Discussions between Xi Jinping and U Min Aung Hlaing focused on bilateral economic cooperation and matters related to Myanmar’s planned election process.

The forthcoming visit is expected to further strengthen bilateral ties and cooperation between Myanmar and China across a range of sectors.
