Myanmar and Belarus discuss opening Belarusian embassy in Nay Pyi Taw, expanding bilateral cooperation

Myanmar and Belarus have discussed plans to open a Belarusian embassy in Nay Pyi Taw as well as measures to strengthen cooperation across various sectors between the two countries, according to official sources.

The discussions took place during a meeting on May 28 between Myanmar Deputy Foreign Minister U Ko Ko Kyaw and Belarusian Ambassador to Myanmar Uladzimir Baravikou, who is based in Hanoi, Vietnam. The meeting was held at Myanmar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Nay Pyi Taw.

During the talks, both sides exchanged views on enhancing bilateral engagement through reciprocal visits, advancing the implementation of agreements currently under coordination between the two countries, and promoting closer cooperation between their respective foreign ministries.

The officials also discussed ways to further strengthen the existing friendly relations between Myanmar and Belarus, expand cooperation across multiple sectors, and facilitate the establishment of a Belarusian embassy in Nay Pyi Taw.
