The foreign ministers of Myanmar and Malaysia held bilateral talks in Nay Pyi Taw on May 19 during a one-day visit by the Malaysian foreign minister, according to a statement released by Myanmar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
A delegation led by Malaysian Foreign Minister Dato’ Seri Utama Haji Mohamad bin Haji Hasan arrived in Nay Pyi Taw by special aircraft on the afternoon of May 19. The delegation was welcomed at Nay Pyi Taw International Airport by Deputy Foreign Minister U Naing Min Kyaw and other officials.
Myanmar’s Union Minister for Foreign Affairs U Than Swe later met with the Malaysian delegation during the working visit. The meeting was followed by a working luncheon hosted at the M Gallery Hotel.
During the discussions, the two foreign ministers exchanged views on strengthening bilateral relations between Myanmar and Malaysia, as well as enhancing cooperation on ASEAN-related matters.
They also discussed expanding ongoing cooperation in sectors that would bring mutual benefits to both countries.
The Malaysian foreign minister and his delegation departed Nay Pyi Taw for Malaysia later that evening, according to the ministry.
