The goodwill delegation led by Indian Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi and two Indian naval vessels departed Myanmar on May 6 following an official friendship visit to the country.
According to reports, Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi, PVSM, AVSM, NM, and his delegation left Yangon by air on the morning of May 6. Senior Myanmar Navy officials, the Indian Naval Attaché to Myanmar, and responsible officials saw the delegation off at Yangon International Airport.
During the visit, the Indian Navy Chief and delegation visited the Regional Naval Command Headquarters in Thanlyin on May 2, where they received a guard of honour and held discussions with the commander of the headquarters. The delegation also visited the Naval Training Headquarters in Thanlyin and attended the opening ceremony of a Small Arm Simulator inaugurated by the Indian Navy Chief.
The delegation later toured the historic warship Mayu, planted commemorative trees, and on May 3 visited the Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda in the Inle region, observed traditional weaving activities, and toured Inle Lake. They also paid homage at the Maha Wiziya Buddha Image in Nay Pyi Taw.
On May 4, the delegation visited the Heroes’ Mausoleum in Nay Pyi Taw and laid wreaths in tribute. They later met with Myanmar’s Commander-in-Chief (Navy) at Bayintnaung Villa, where both naval chiefs held bilateral discussions after a ceremonial reception.
The delegation also visited the Defence Services Museum and attended an official dinner hosted by the Commander-in-Chief (Navy) on the evening of May 4.
On May 5, Admiral Tripathi attended a dinner reception aboard the Indian naval vessel INS Satpura (F-48), docked at MITT Jetty in Thilawa Port, Yangon, together with Joint Chief of Staff (Army, Navy and Air) Lt-Gen Ko Ko Oo.
The event was attended by Yangon Region Chief Minister U Aung Naing Thu, senior military officials, Indian Ambassador to Myanmar H.E. Mr. Abhay Thakur, Indian Defence Attachés, and invited guests.
During the ceremony, the Indian and Myanmar national anthems were played, while Indian naval personnel performed traditional cultural dances and songs. Commemorative gifts were also exchanged between senior officials from both countries.
Indian naval ships INS Satpura (F-48) and INS Sunayna (P-57), which had arrived in Myanmar on a goodwill mission, departed from MITT Jetty in Yangon on the evening of May 6. Senior Myanmar Navy officers, Indian naval officials, and personnel bid farewell to the vessels.
Officers and sailors aboard the ships also toured notable locations in Yangon and participated in Myanmar-India naval friendship sports matches during their stay from May 4 to May 6.
