The Ministry of Transport and Communications has announced that regular domestic flights to Myitkyina will resume on April 4, followed by the resumption of flights to Putao on April 5.
According to the ministry, several domestic airlines—including Myanmar National Airlines (MNA), Myanmar Airways International (MAI), Mingalar Aviation, Mann Yadanarpon Airlines, and Air Thanlwin—have already restarted operations on selected priority routes. Since March 25, flights have been operating to destinations such as Kengtung, Tachileik, Kawthaung, Kyaukphyu, Sittwe, Kalay, Homalin, and Khamti.
The ministry confirmed that Myitkyina and Putao are the next destinations scheduled for the resumption of regular services.
Flight operations to Myitkyina had been suspended following an attack on February 20, when an ATR 72-600 passenger aircraft operated by Myanmar National Airlines was targeted while preparing to depart for Mandalay. The aircraft reportedly sustained damage to its nose, midsection, and tail after being struck by explosive devices delivered via FPV suicide drones during a joint attack by KIA and PDF groups.
The incident also caused minor damage to the airport apron, prompting a temporary suspension of flight operations, according to a statement released by the National Defense and Security Council’s information team.
