Senior officials said the upcoming Youth Peace Forum will help identify high-quality young people to support nation-building and peace efforts.

Union Minister Lieutenant General Yar Pyae, chair of the forum’s organizing committee, made the remarks at the third coordination meeting held on January 5 in Nay Pyi Taw.

He emphasized that youth play a vital role in peacebuilding and that the forum aims to nurture morally sound, creative, and capable young people who can contribute to a peaceful and stable future. Peace, he said, is essential for securing a better future for youth, while proper youth development is key to building a harmonious society.

Committee Secretary Lieutenant General Min Naing noted that the forum will differ from previous peace forums, as it will be led by youth-focused discussions. Participants will address issues such as conflict causes, youth security, gender-related vulnerabilities, education gaps, employment opportunities, drug prevention, and youth leadership in AI, cyber, and social media spaces.

Officials said the forum will amplify youth voices and integrate their ideas into future peace and nation-building processes, reinforcing trust between the government, the public, and young people.
