According to a notification published in the State Gazette, the office headquarters for the Wa Self-Administered Zone in Myanmar has been officially designated as Metman Town to enable more effective implementation of administrative and regional development activities.
It has been reported that the order was issued by the National Defence and Security Council in accordance with Article 431 of the Constitution, and that the designation was revised to achieve greater effectiveness and success in governance and regional development operations.
Previously, on 20 August 2010, the State Peace and Development Council announced the establishment of self-administered divisions and regions, specifying their respective administrative capitals. In that announcement, the statement “office headquarters in Hopang Town within Wa Self-Administered Division,” under sub-section (a), has now been amended and re-designated as Metman Town.
This amendment replaces the former capital, Hopang, establishing Metman Town as the new administrative center for the Wa region.
