Union Minister for Foreign Affairs U Than Swe met with Yangon-based diplomats and representatives of UN organizations on the current developments in Myanmar at the Wan Zin Min Raja Hall of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Yangon on the morning of November 12.

Union Minister U Than Swe explained the preparations for the upcoming multiparty democratic general election to be free, fair and inclusive, the plans to hold the election in phases, the registration of political parties and candidates who want to contest in the election without restrictions and in accordance with the law, the invitation of domestic and foreign observer groups, international diplomats and organizations to ensure a transparent election, and the registration of domestic and foreign media.

In addition, regarding the peace process, the Union Minister explained about the government invited all ethnic armed organizations to participate in peace talks and participate in the political process through face-to-face discussions, the issues of combating transnational crimes based in border areas, border-based armed groups operating in casinos and online gambling, etc., in collaboration with international criminal gangs, the repatriation of 67,982 foreigners from 52 countries who illegally entered Myanmar over a period of more than 2 years from October 2023 to November 2025, through neighboring countries to their respective countries via neighboring countries, and the fight against gangs that illegally entered Myanmar through neighboring border routes and have established themselves in the Mae Htaw Tha Lay and KK Park areas of Myawady Township, Kayin State and are committing online fraud. 99.5 percent of those who illegally entered Myanmar entered Myanmar by land from neighboring countries, these criminal gangs and armed groups have access to internet, electricity, and the full cooperation of neighboring countries is needed to combat cross-border crimes, as it has been found that financial transactions are carried out using the infrastructure of neighboring countries, said the Union Minister.

The Union Minister also urged diplomats to accurately present the actual situation in Myanmar to the relevant governments.

In addition, officials from the Union Election Commission demonstrated the voting system using the Electronic Voting Machine, and the diplomats who attended tested the Electronic Voting Machine and asked questions to the officials.

Then, officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs said that they are focusing on cross-border crimes, controlling the entry of chemical-based drugs into Myanmar through border countries, which are directly related to the internal political stability of Myanmar, and that they would like to request neighboring countries to closely monitor and take action.

The video presentation of some of the detainees who were deported in the fight against online gambling gangs was displayed, and it was reported that out of the total 625 buildings in KK Park, 148 have been demolished in the first phase, 62 in the second phase, and 425 in the third phase. It is reported that the importance of cooperation between the receiving country, the country of origin, and the transit country was discussed.
