Roads and bridges on Nay Pyi Taw-Yangon section of Yangon-Mandalay Expressway are being repaired and rebuilt which was caused by the powerful earthquake.
On October 31, Deputy Minister of Construction U Myo Myint and his team inspected the reconstruction work on the roads and bridges on Nay Pyi Taw-Yangon section of Yangon-Mandalay Expressway, which was damaged by the Mandalay earthquake.
The Deputy Minister and his team inspected the asphalt concrete overlay work between mileposts 201/1 and 200/6 of the Nay Pyi Taw-Yangon section of Yangon-Mandalay Expressway, which was damaged by the earthquake, and instructed them to strictly follow the specified temperatures to ensure the quality of the asphalt concrete, to ensure the quality of the materials used, and to ensure the durability of the road.
Then, upon arriving at the Swa Chaung Bridge (Return) construction site between mileposts 165/1 and 165/3, officials from the Bridge Special Team explained the work being carried out with the funds received for the 2025-2026 FY and the plans for the future.
In response to the presentations, the Deputy Minister ordered the officials to systematically monitor the Yangon-Mandalay Expressway to ensure uninterrupted road communication and avoid delays in the movement of vehicles, to improve the quality of construction work according to the specified standards, to complete the work on time according to the specified fiscal year, and to plan the next steps, and inspected the bored pile excavation work at the site.
Afterwards, they inspected the progress of asphalt concrete overlay work between mileposts 113/3 and 113/5 of the Nay Pyi Taw-Yangon section of Yangon-Mandalay Expressway that was damaged by the powerful earthquake, and the conditions of the work along the expressway.
