Myanmar Navy delegation visits China to strengthen naval cooperation

At the invitation of Vice Admiral Cui Yuzhong, Deputy Commander of the People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN), a Myanmar Navy delegation led by Admiral Htein Win, Commander-in-Chief (Navy), paid a goodwill visit to China from September 14 to 20 to enhance bilateral naval friendship and cooperation.

On September 16, the delegation visited the PLAN Headquarters in Beijing, where Vice Admiral Cui and senior officers welcomed them with a guard of honour. Both sides held discussions on expanding cooperation and training exchanges. That evening, Admiral Cui hosted a formal dinner in their honour.

On September 17, the Myanmar delegation visited the destroyer Xining of the PLAN North Sea Fleet in Qingdao, followed by a briefing and a guard of honour reception at the fleet’s headquarters.

The following day, September 18, they toured the PLAN Navy Submarine Academy, where they were briefed on the institution’s history and training programs. They also observed simulators, trainers, and the naval museum.

On September 19, the delegation visited the Hudong-Zhonghua Shipyard in Shanghai for technical briefings.

During their stay, the delegation also visited cultural landmarks, including Lingguang Temple and the Great Wall, before returning to Yangon by air on September 20. At Yangon International Airport, they were received by senior Myanmar military officials and representatives from the Chinese Embassy.
